Notes:
- Short history of the place: VIA EGIZIACA A PIZZOFALCONE. It’s a
little hill separating Piazza del Plebiscito, a well known square of the
city, from Via Caracciolo and Mergellina the places mentioned in all Neapolitan
songs. The street ends with a panoramic observation point where you can
see the harbour, monuments and famous tourist places (Castel dell’Ovo
and Borgo di S. Lucia).
Some historians say that the first buildings of the city arose in this setting.
Because it is near to the Royal Palace, many important palaces were built
during the Neapolitan era.
- Position: Few minutes walking distance from Piazza del Plebiscito, and
the ancient commercial centre of Chiaja. The historical centre can be reached
on foot in a quarter of hour.
It’s near to theatres: San Carlo - one of the biggest lyric theatres
of Italy; Mercadante – a beautiful prose theatre recently restructured;
Politeama and Sannazzaro - two dialectical theatres. All can be reached
on foot.
- All main city line buses for all destinations nearby (ten minutes walking).
