Naples, the city centre, In Mezzocannone Street, the area where arose the University, you can see a particular statue: it looks as a young man (a sort of boy) with a long knife on his hands.
This is no a serial killer, but only Cola Pesce, one of the myth of Neapolitan oral tradition.
Cola Pesce, one of the most famous ghosts in Naples.
Fishermen love him. Several stories has been written upon Cola Pesce, and he is known, in Sicily and also in Spain.
He loved the sea. He plunged into the "blue water" in the morning and, late night, he was still swimming. And this every day, summer, winter, with sun and wind, rain and snow. Every day.
His hopless mother, one day bawled to him. " One day you'll become half day-half fish!!!"
One day you'll become half man -half fish. One day.
And this day came. He became a fish-man.
But this, instead of desperate him made him an happy boy.
He spent all of his day swimming on the blue element, and of this he knew all the secret, and the most secret of these secret.
He was the friend of the fish and suggested to sailors, the most windily course. When there was a tempest he advised sailors and fishermen; one returned back on the land, others take the sea, because when there is a tempest it's better for fishing.
He went under the sea (diving) and recuperated many treasures offered to fshermen, that became rich -once in their life-.
So he was friend of a lot of mariners, fishing and of the incredible marine creatures. All loved him and in short time, he became so famous in the Neapolitan kingdom.
So famous that also the King wanted to meet him.
And this happened. Naples' king and Coal Pesce, talking:
"Cola Pesce is it true that you know all the secret of our sea?"
"How to say no to you, my King?"
"If so, go under Castel dell' Ovo, and see if it's true the it stands upon Virgilio's egg."
He went and returned back and he referred: " " it's a secret!!!!
"Cola Pesce - said the King - Go under Sicily and see why there are a lot of heartbreaks".
He went and referred that Sicily stand on three columns. One is broken.........
"Cola Pesce go under the Messina Sea and tell me what you see"
"My Lord, this is as you tell me to kill myself. None returned back from that deep sea. I pray You. Don't send me there, in that so deep sea". "GO!".
And he went.
When in that sea, he begun to plunge under that beautiful sea.
But more he went down and more and more the water became deep and dark. And he went down, and the water became black and deep and cold, and so and so.
At the end he found a beach. Exhausted, wasted and languid, he rested upon this beach.
But, as he put his feet on the beach the sea removed by him, and all that dark water take away from the beach.

Instead of the sea, there is now, a wonderful star spangled spring star.
Cola Pesce lives there, and no one can reach him. We think that he is happy. He doesn't need many things to be happy. A beautiful sky, and over the sky, the wondering sea of Sicily.

But several seamen, and some fisherman.
When they came back from the sea, they relate of a sort of funny boy; it's seem half man-half fish.
He reach the vessel with beautiful present from the deep of the sea.
He narrate, several strange, fashion histories........
